The Police Academy of the Netherlands took the initiative to set up IPEP, an international platform for knowledge management. The Police Academy of the Netherlands has broad experience with knowledge management within the police and sees the potential to develop knowledge management on an international level.

Taking an initiative is one step, building a sophisticated virtual environment is another. The next step is guaranteeing a sustainable knowledge and learning portal for an international professional audience. The aim of the Police Academy is to arrange an IPEP Programme Board with representatives of different countries from all over the world. Ideally speaking every continent should have a member taking a coordination role for the other countries of that continent.

Currently South Africa, Indonesia and Turkey have shown interest. Australia, Canada and Morocco are considering the invitation. Brazil, China and Russia will be approached as well in order to get a global coverage.
